Swedish death metal institution Grave has been at the forefront of the genre since the late 1980s, known for their crushing riffs, guttural vocals, and uncompromising heaviness. Before taking on the name Grave, the band was originally known as Corpse, under which they released several raw and punishing demos that laid the groundwork for their signature sound. These formative recordings, along with their earliest Grave material, remain a defining force in the evolution of old school death metal, blending groove and brutality in equal measure. The “Old School Grave & Corpse” set highlights this early era, embodying the raw and primal essence that made them legends of the underground.
Grave will perform a special “Old School Grave & Corpse” set exclusively at Maryland Deathfest XXI on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Market Place/Power Plant Live in Baltimore.
