Cynic is a progressive metal band originally formed in 1987 in Miami, Florida, before becoming California-based in the mid 1990s. Following a hiatus, Cynic returned with Traced in Air (2008), Kindly Bent to Free Us (2014), and their most recent release, the futuristic concept album Ascension Codes (2021).
